Biomimetics focuses on studies of nature and drawing inspiration from natural designs and processes to find new solutions. The basic premise of biomimetics is that it mimics existing components and biological mechanisms that occur naturally in our skin or in nature. For example, a moisturizer that replicates the hydrating properties of a specific plant or the rejuvenating effects of a natural enzyme.

This provides the opportunity to move beyond just bio-based alternatives for common ingredients, focusing instead on delivering novel, higher-performance options.
